Melanie L Doerman: The Magpie!

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Would you like to see some beadwork by an artist who is equally proficient in vessels and sculptural pieces as she is in jewelry? Then visit Melanie Doerman’s website, The Magpie.

Melanie has created a loomed self-portrait which I find fascinating:

And her vessels, which she has made to illustrate the Tarot, are astounding:

Cassandra Graham’s gorgeous beadwork

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

“And just think…..all I ever wanted was a box of 64 colors!!”

So says extraordinary bead artist Cassandra Graham. You’ll need to set aside some serious time to take in all of Cassandra’s gorgeous pieces on her website, Wilde Jewels. Amazing pieces live there, like this Bead Dreams finalist called French Vanilla:

Ingrid Bernhardt: just really cool bead stuff!

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

I smile when I see Ingrid’s beadwork. It’s fun, cute, mostly happy, and the colors are great! She makes a lot of non-wearables, but I’ll encourage you to go visit her to see them rather than show them all here!

Optical lens pendants

Monday, February 26th, 2007

Clare Byfield recently got some optical lenses from me, and I want to show you what she’s done with them! I love the way she’s added rhinestones to the surface of the lenses:

If it interests you to try playing with these, I have a tutorial available from when I taught these on HGTV. Sets of three lenses are also available.

Lisa Kokin’s mixed media artworks

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

Lisa Kokin has an artistic vision that is very hard to categorize, because she does so many things so very well. Consequently, Lisa has gallery representation in both New York and California…believe me, it’s easy to see why! But don’t take my word for it…visit her site and spend a little time admiring her buttonworks, altered books, sewn photos, and sculptures.

Look out, Barbie-lovers!

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

Just another Wacked-Out Wednesday!

barbie.jpg

Don’t share this site with your four year old daughter unless she’s just as quirky as you! Seriously, though, Margaux Lange’s jewelry is unique and hauntingly stunning!

Make sure you come back tomorrow, because Margaux was gracious enough to do an entire artist profile for us. Can’t wait!
